Dr Ramgoolam is a Specialist in the field of Occupational Medicine who has held positions in both the private and public sectors for the last fifteen (15) years. He is the Managing Director of Occumed Ltd, a leader in occupational health services regionally, responsible for supporting numerous clients across a variety of industries. As the current Head of Occupational Medicine at the South West Regional Health Authority, he was responsible for establishing the department and has been instrumental in implementing many occupational health strategies in the public health care system.
Dr Ramgoolam’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB.BS) from the University of the West Indies (UWI), a Master’s Degree in Occupational & Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (UK) and Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians (MFOM). He is also a Member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, a certified Oil and Gas UK Physician and possesses a Certificate in Practical Occupational Health Law.
Dr Ramgoolam serves on several public boards in his capacity as an Occupational Medicine Specialist. He is presently a Member of the Board of Directors of the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA). He is also a member of the Pesticide & Toxic Chemicals Control Board (PTCCB) tasked with providing expert advice on health effects as related to potential substances being considered for importation and use. Recently, he was appointed to serve as a member of the Protection Services Compensation Committee under the Ministry of National Security.
