Eugene is a Nigerian and British citizen, born in Birmingham in the UK and grew up in Nigeria. A Geology graduate from University of Benin, Nigeria, he started his career in 1991 with Mobil Nigeria as a Well site/Production Geologist. He subsequently joined Shell in 1992, in SPDC’s Exploration Department, as a Seismic Interpreter. He has worked as an Exploration Geoscientist in Nigeria, Brunei and The Netherlands plus several broadening roles in Development, Economics, Commercial /New Business Development and in Strategy/Planning.

He left Shell in 2009 for Sasol Petroleum International, taking on the General Manager Global Exploration role accountable for the company’s exploration activities, from strategy, through to business development, venture execution and operational activities in held assets, in both conventional and unconventional themes.

He re-joined Shell in April 2013 as Vice President Commercial & NBD Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to prior to taking on his current role, he was Vice President Exploration for South America & Africa
